👋 Hello my friends!
I hope you're ready to dive into the second part of our series confronting Islam’s arguments against Christianity. Last time, we tackled the Godhead (Trinity) and showed how—even though misunderstood by Muhammad—it’s biblical and true.
Now we move on to another core argument in Islam: Was Jesus simply a prophet? Or is He God the Son, God in the flesh?
This article is going to unpack a lot, so buckle up! 🚀
📖 Do Muslims Believe Jesus Was Crucified?
The Islamic position is that Jesus (called Isa in Arabic) was not crucified. Instead, someone who resembled Him was made to die in His place, and Allah took Jesus up to Himself.
🕋 Qur’an 4:157-158
“And [for] their saying, ‘Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.’
But they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him—but [it was] made to appear to them... Rather, Allah raised him to Himself.”
This statement directly contradicts the Gospels and the historical consensus. No credible scholar—Christian or secular—uses the Qur’an to study Jesus’ life.
Muhammad lived 600 years after Jesus and had no historical access to eyewitness accounts. Meanwhile, the New Testament is backed by early manuscripts, archaeology, and eyewitness testimony.
🧕 What Does Islam Say About Jesus?
Muslims regard Jesus as only a prophet, not as God or the Son of God. The Qur’an repeatedly emphasizes this view:
🕋 Qur’an 4:171
“The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was no more than a messenger of Allah... Do not say ‘Three’... Allah is only one God. He is far above having a son…”
🕋 Qur’an 5:75
“The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a messenger… They both used to eat food…”
🕋 Qur’an 6:101
“How could He have a son when He has no consort?”
These verses reflect a consistent attempt to deny Jesus’ divine nature, but they miss a key fact: the very title “Messiah” proves His divinity.
👑 What Does "Messiah" Really Mean?
You may hear Muslims say, “Show me in the Bible where Jesus says, ‘I am God’.” But here’s a question to ask in return:
👉 Where in the Qur’an does Jesus say, “I am the Messiah”?
You won’t find Jesus saying that about Himself in the Qur’an. It is simply stated that He is the Messiah. But if Muslims accept that Jesus is the Messiah, they must be ready to answer this:
⚠️ Do you even know what the Messiah means according to the Torah?
Because when you understand that, you’ll see that the Messiah is God in the flesh, God the Son, the anointed Savior of the world.
🕋 Qur’an 5:110
“O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you... when I supported you with the Holy Spirit and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel...”
➡️ Explanation:
This verse says Allah taught Jesus the Torah and the Gospel. But here’s the issue: If Allah taught Jesus the Torah, then surely Allah would know what the Torah actually says about the Messiah. Yet in the Torah, the Messiah is clearly described as divine, not just a prophet. If Allah is calling Jesus the Messiah, while denying His divinity, then that reveals a major theological error one that shows Muhammad or Allah didn’t understand what "Messiah" meant.
📖 What Does the Torah Say About the Messiah?
Let’s now prove directly from the Hebrew Scriptures that the Messiah is not just a man, but God the Son in the flesh.
📜 Zechariah 2:10–11
“Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” declares Yahweh.
And many nations will join themselves to Yahweh in that day and will become My people.
Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent Me to you.”
➡️ Explanation:
Wait‼️ Yahweh says He’s coming to dwell with His people, and then says Yahweh has sent Me?
This is Yahweh sending Yahweh—a divine mystery that only makes sense in the doctrine of the Trinity.
Jesus is Yahweh in the flesh, sent by Yahweh the Father. This is what it means for Him to be the Messiah.
📜 Micah 5:2
“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah...
From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel.
His goings forth are from everlasting, from the ancient days.”
➡️ Explanation:
The Messiah is born in Bethlehem (fulfilled by Jesus). But more than that—His origin is from everlasting!
That means He existed before time, before creation. Only God is eternal.
This shows the Messiah is not a created being, but the Eternal One—God Himself.
📜 Jeremiah 23:5–6
“Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh,
“When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch...
And this is His name by which He will be called,
‘Yahweh our righteousness.’”
➡️ Explanation:
The Messiah comes from David’s line, but His name is Yahweh our righteousness.
Only God is righteous, and here the Messiah shares God’s covenant name: Yahweh.
Isn’t it amazing that in the New Testament, we are called “the righteousness of God” through Christ?
(See 2 Corinthians 5:21)
📜 Isaiah 9:6–7
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase of His government…”
➡️ Explanation:
The Messiah will be born as a child, but His names are divine titles!
He is called Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace.
He rules God’s Kingdom and will reign forever.
So this is not just any prophet—this is God’s government and God’s identity in human form.
💡 So What’s the Point?
By calling Jesus “the Messiah,” the Quran accidentally affirms that He is God in the flesh.
Yet Muhammad and/or Allah (and most Muslims) never define the word "Messiah". That’s why it’s crucial to go back to the Torah, where the word originated.
📌 Key Truth:
✅ If Jesus is the Messiah (as Muslims admit)…
✅ And the Messiah is Yahweh in flesh (as the Torah says)…
➡️ Then Jesus is God the Son.
🙌 Did Jesus Ever Claim to Be God?
Alright, are you guys with me so far? Because now we’re going to clearly show that the Messiah is not only divine, but He is the very Son of God.
🗣️ Muslims often say:
“Jesus never said, ‘I am God’ or ‘Worship Me’—so how can you call Him divine?”
But relax. Stay with me—we're laying the foundation straight from the Word. 📖🔥
📜 Psalm 2:6–9
“But as for Me, I have installed My King
Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”
“I will surely tell of the decree of Yahweh:
He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth as Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron,
You shall shatter them like a potter’s vessel.’”
➡️ Explanation:
Here, Yahweh (God the Father) declares someone to be His Son, and this Son is given all authority over the nations.
This is echoed at Jesus' baptism in Matthew 3:17, where God says, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
The Messiah is not just a servant or prophet—He is God’s begotten Son, appointed to rule and judge the earth.
📜 Proverbs 30:4
“Who has ascended into heaven and descended?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has wrapped the waters in His garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name? And what is His Son’s name? Surely you know!”
➡️ Explanation:
This verse describes the Creator of all things, clearly referring to God. But then it asks, “What is His Son’s name?”
This is a direct affirmation in the Old Testament that God has a Son, long before the New Testament was written.
How could Muhammad, who denied God having a son, claim he understood the Torah?
🙌 Is Jesus Worthy of Worship? Did He Ever Claim to Be Equal with God?
Now that we’ve seen Jesus is the Son of God, let’s address the next challenge:
🔍 “Where did Jesus say, ‘I am God, worship Me’?”
Let’s examine the Gospels closely.
📖 John 5:18
“For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.”
➡️ Explanation:
The religious Jews understood that when Jesus called God “My Father,” He was claiming equality with God.
This wasn’t a misunderstanding. The Jews knew that claiming God as “My Father” made Jesus divine by nature.
📖 John 5:19–23
“...whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in the same manner…
Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life…
The Father has given all judgment to the Son, so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father.
He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
➡️ Explanation:
Let that sink in:
-
Jesus gives life, just like the Father.
-
Jesus is the Judge of all mankind.
-
Jesus is to be honored exactly as the Father is.
That means worshiped, revered, and glorified just like the Father.
This is divine status. This is a claim to be God.
📖 John 17:1–5
“Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You—
even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life…
Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”
➡️ Explanation:
Jesus prays that the Father will glorify Him with the same glory they shared before creation.
He says He has authority over all flesh and that He gives eternal life.
These are not things a mere man or prophet can do.
🔑 Only God can give eternal life and share eternal glory.
👑 Does the Father Call Jesus God? Let’s Find Out
📜 Psalm 45:6–7
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom…
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You…”
➡️ Explanation:
Here we see God addressing another person as God.
This is a divine dialogue—where God calls the Son “God.”
This is later quoted directly in the New Testament to describe Jesus.
📖 Hebrews 1:8–9
“But of the Son He says,
‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever…
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You…’”
➡️ Explanation:
The Father is speaking about the Son, and calls Him “God.”
This shows us the oneness and distinctness within the Godhead.
It is not polytheism—it is unity in the Trinity.
📖 Hebrews 1:10–12
“You, Lord, in the beginning founded the earth,
And the heavens are the works of Your hands…
But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.”
➡️ Explanation:
Here, the Father declares that the Son is the Creator, eternal, and unchanging.
This is one of the clearest passages proving that Jesus is God, the Creator of all things, and divine in nature and authority.
🔥 Conclusion: Jesus Is the Messiah, the Son of God, and God in the Flesh
📌 The Quran acknowledges Jesus as the Messiah but never explains what the Messiah actually means.
If you truly understand the Torah and Prophets, you’ll see that the Messiah must be divine, eternal, and worthy of worship.
💯 Jesus is not just a prophet—He is God the Son, the Creator, Judge, Redeemer, and King of Kings.
